Why the deposit percentage matters more than it looks
Worked example: on a £280,000 property, a 5% deposit is £14,000; a 15% deposit is £42,000. That extra £28,000 moves you from a 95% LTV mortgage to an 85% one — often enough to unlock meaningfully better rates, because you're a lower risk to lend to.
